Yay camera!

So yesterday I went thrifting with my mama. As we were leaving I saw a bag with "Pentax" written on it, in a glass display case. I was curious. I asked the lady if I could see what was in the bag and she opened it for me. Inside was a Pentax P30T, along with three lenses and a flash, all for less than $30 (with the bag, of course). Sweet.

Well, my mom bought that bad boy for me (thanks mama, you are seriously the most generous!). There was a working battery in it so I just had to wait for Branden to get home from his softball game (my camera bag with some new film was in the truck that he had). Last night and today I filled up the roll as quickly as I could (note to self: don't do this. Savour your film. It is expensive to develop! lol). I also got an old roll I had lying around developed!

I'm VERY happy with this pentax and plan on having around for as long as I can :D Maybe give it to my future kid :P haha. I am impressed with the images (this camera was released in 1990, it's as old as I am!) and so happy it came with three lenses!

First a 5dmkii shot of me with the pentax...lol, then immediately following I took one with the "new" camera.

The following are the test shots I took with the pentax:

the 2 images above are with Pentax 28-80mm f/3.5
another 50mm shot^

And from that old roll that I developed. It ended up being a roll from August 2011 (shot on Canon AE-1)

Film

Something about the feel of old photos and film that I just love. I just want to go visit all my family's houses and have afternoons to just slowly peruse and immerse myself in the film photos they have of our history.

the others

So today I edited AND datestamped three photos for my 365 photo. Originally the mister and I went out to hunt ducks and I got him with his ducks, and that was that, I edited, datestamped and even uploaded that photo. Then we went exploring with the girls and they took the 2nd picture of me and mister and I thought that was my favorite of the day, so I edited that one. Finally, I ran into the last photo and just loved it. Something about children :)

The three photos of today:

Week 19, Photo a Day

Week 19
May 7 - May 13, 2013
That week flew by! Spent the first few days in Edmonton then went back out to the farm. Mother's day was good but it was SO hot out. I usually love this heat but it was pretty humid too, and I wasn't wearing a shorts and tank top, and we had no shade where we had our dinner (all these reasons are why I only have a crappy iphone shot of my mama on mother's day :P).

Went duck hunting for the first time with mister. Going again this evening :D Enjoying the beautiful weather we are finally having.

Also, after playing with the code I finally changed my blog width a little bit. It was 700px wide, and now it's 750px :D A little larger for more viewing power! (I did this in the middle of the week, why the first few pictures are only 700px wide, haven't resized them for the new blog).

May 7, 8, 9, and 13 shot on my 5D Mark II w/ 50mm f/1.4, May 10, 11, 12 on iPhone 5.

Mother's Day

Today I am extremely grateful for the mothers in my life.

These are the strongest women I know and I am so happy that I can learn from them. Words cannot do justice as to how much I owe them and how much I marvel at them and their generosity, love, and just plain awesomeness!

In the top picture are:
- my sister Nicole, mother to my nephew Ashton (pictured with the hat).
- my mom, mother to four of us.
- my sister Benita, mother to two of my nephews, Talon and Darien, and one niece, Teresse (pictured at the bottom).
- my Kokom ("grandmother" in my language, Cree), my mom's mother, and mother to 12.
