Rally

On September 24th I had the opportunity to attend a rally at the Legislature building here in Edmonton. It was great to see Aboriginal people (especially youth) coming together to support one another. 

Hunting Trip

Friday (the 23rd) I went on a mini hunting trip with the mister and his friend. It was an adventure.

They got a moose. It was so beautiful out. By nightfall I forgot the beauty of it and mainly focused on keeping my terror to a minimum. Hehe.

I love fall, I really do. Especially our fall this year, it's been so warm. I love it. Anyway, the boys got their moose, and didn't finish skinning it until well after dark. I helped when I can, and did my best to ignore the scary sounds coming from the bush around us. We were on an island in the middle of a slough, that we had to walk away from the road quite a bit to get to. Finally they finished their job and we started hauling back to the truck. It took us 3 trips to get everything back. 6 times of crossing the water after dark. So scary. The water was up to mid thigh, so we all got wet. Branden almost thew up from fatigue. He said it was the hardest haul of his life. I'll never forget that adventure. I did get a picture of the moose, but I'll spare you all.

Quick story. I have this visitor:

Ashton is now 9 years old, in grade 4. He's growing up so fast. His favorite things are pokemon, video games, netflix, and visiting me :P Haha jk, I wish. He is my nephew.

He called me asking to camp and I do not mind at all. It's easier for him to come here because it takes his mom 20 minutes to drive him, and it takes me an hour and a half to bus it to his house. So yay! 

This evening we went for a little walk (and took this photo), watched Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus and Casper Meets Wendy (I'm in a Halloween mood), made jello, ate some junk food (aunties are supposed to be fun), played Super Smash Bros on N64, and relaxed. It's nice having him here. 

Went hunting the other day, will write about my trip tomorrow!

Busy Life

Okay, life has taken a turn for the BUSY! School started on Tuesday and since then it's been a whirlwind of craziness. I'm already needing to catch up with my readings :\.

I'm taking 5 classes, 3 Computing Science classes, 1 Math class, and 1 Anthro class. Two of them have labs and 2 others have seminars. My days are pretty busy. My evenings are busy too. I have to keep my apartment clean (lol), cook dinner for me and mister, get my workouts in, do all my homework/studying, AND try have some semblance of a social life (i.e. going to visit my sister who just moved to the city). I feel bad like I'm neglecting her if I don't go visit often, so I'm spending tonight there.

My textbooks came up to around $560! Crazy.

The top book is actually a novel that I'm reading :P. Two of those books were $170 ea. I can't even wrap my mind around it! Haha.

 Tomorrow morning I'm going to breaky with my family then I have a shoot with my lovely friend Saige, who is doing make-up on a few of her friends. I'm so excited to get some new faces up! I feel like I get boring when I keep taking pictures of the same faces (as beautiful as they may be). Sunday I'll be heading to a birthday party, and perhaps doing a family photoshoot in the evening. SOMEHOW between all of that I have to find time to do all my schoolwork. It's a wee bit stressful but I'm going to get used to it, I hope.

Today I was sitting around at the computer, musing on how I really wished I had someone to take pictures of (I even messaged a friend asking her if she wanted to get some pictures done that evening, no dice), then I realized that I am a human being to take pictures of! Haha, kidding. It's actually SO hard for me to take pictures of myself. It's hard to get my focus on (I shoot wide open most of the time) annnd I basically am my biggest critic and don't like being in front of the camera all that much. Needless to say I did get this one of me and my darling Figaro. I'm proud of her for being cooperative. This is window light and my 430ex ii is behind me. Oh, it's also hard because I use my 50mm, and on my cropped sensor (T3i) it's like using an 85mm on a full frame. Doesn't leave a whole lot of room to take pictures. 

Mister and I, today. Yup, I had green nails today, they were awesome. 

So I just finished this book, the Gypsy Morph by my all time favorite writer Terry Brooks. I'll talk about it when I do my monthly review post on August. :)

Right now our bedroom is in our livingroom, it's bad ass. Our bedroom is cleared out to use as a temporary "studio"

Took some pictures of my younger cousin :) Just for fun. Very hard to do as it was midnight and I didn't bring my flash trigger with me (I hate using on camera flash).

Busy

It's been busy in my world recently! Enjoying the very last days of my summer vacation. I can't believe school starts again in a mere 3 sleeps! Crazy. So hard to wrap my mind around it.

Today I baked a cupcake with these cuties:

I'm so happy I did.

On friday I had the opportunity to shoot with another photographer and some of my friends as models (check out Raj Sandhu on facebook). It was really fun and time flew by SO quickly! I think well have to get some pizza next time :P
